Searching for Articles

A major part of the Magazine Exchange websites is the free-of-charge Article Search facility, which enables users to generate a list of all the magazines in our database that feature articles on any chosen topic or subject.

To perform a search, simply enter your chosen keyword or keywords into the search box at the top of the page, then click the 'Search' button alongside. For a slightly more sophisticated search, go to the dedicated search page by clicking the 'Advanced' button, or 'Search' on the main menu.

The results of your search will be a list of magazine issues that feature the keywords you chose. Clicking on any of the issues listed will display the details of that issue, with your keywords highlighted in the contents listing.

Points to note about the Article Search facilty:

The search is performed on the CONTENTS LISTING of the magazine, not the articles themselves

When we receive new magazines they are generally listed on the websites straight away, but entering the contents listings for those issues into our database can take a considerable time. Consequently, although those magazines are available for purchase, they will not appear in search results; if you are looking for a specific issue it is best to find it by navigating through 'Category - Title - Year - Month' etc rather than by using the search facility.

The four Magazine Exchange websites (Main, Aviation, Motorcycling & Modelling) each have their own search facilities, which just search the magazines shown on that site. There are times when you might choose to search on more than one site to find the information you require - for instance if you were building a replica Spitfire model you should search for information on both the 'Modelling' site and the 'Aviation' site
